Welcome

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming International Symposium "Topical Problems of Island and Coastal Seismology (ICS-2005)" and to invite you to attend it and make it a great scientific event.
The Symposium will be held on the health resort "Sakhalin Spa" in scenic place near the city Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk from June 5 through June 8, 2005.
This meeting will be devoted to the 10-year anniversary of the 1995 Neftegorsk Earthquake in Sakhalin Island and to recent progress in the interrelation fields of seismology and geodynamics of active continental margins.
The Conference will include oral (invited and contributed talks) and poster sessions. The Program Committee Members will select oral and poster presentations by results of the considered submissions. Besides, some plenary lectures on interrelated topics are planned as well as a small session on the tsunami problem and a special session for young scientists.
Meetings of both the European and the Asian Seismological Commissions are planned to be held.

The Symposium organizers look forward to meet you this summer at Sakhalin Island.
